After an early breakfast in Karatu, depart for the world-famous Serengeti National Park, traveling through the stunning Ngorongoro Highlands with its rolling hills, coffee plantations, and traditional villages. This scenic drive offers beautiful photo stops and a gradual transition from cultivated highlands into the vast open wilderness of the Serengeti plains.
As you enter the park, the journey continues as a full game drive toward the northern part of the Serengeti. Along the way, enjoy incredible wildlife sightings including zebras, giraffes, elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, and large herds of wildebeest moving across the endless savannah. This route is also known for predator sightings such as lions and cheetahs, especially in open hunting areas.
Continue your drive north toward the Kogatende region, one of the most spectacular wildlife destinations in Africa and the heart of the Great Migration during the season. The landscape becomes more remote and dramatic as you approach the Mara River ecosystem.
Upon arrival in Northern Serengeti, proceed with an afternoon game drive along the Mara River area. This is one of the best places in Africa to witness the dramatic wildebeest river crossings, where thousands of animals gather before attempting to cross the crocodile-filled waters of the Mara River. The tension, movement, and raw nature make this one of the most unforgettable safari experiences. The area also hosts predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas following the migrating herds. Later in the evening, drive to your tented camp in Northern Serengeti for dinner and overnight stay. Enjoy the remote wilderness atmosphere, far from crowds, with sounds of nature under the African night sky.

These two days are fully dedicated to exploring the Northern Serengeti, one of the most important sections of the Serengeti National Park during the Great Migration season. This region, especially around Kogatende and the Mara River, is known for its dramatic wildlife movement and breathtaking safari moments.
Each morning begins early with breakfast at your camp, followed by a full-day game drive focused on migration tracking. Your guide will follow wildlife movements along the Mara River and surrounding plains, increasing your chances of witnessing river crossings and predator activity. The experience is dynamic, as the herds move depending on water levels, grazing conditions, and predator presence.
During the migration season, thousands of wildebeests and zebras gather in massive herds as they prepare to cross the crocodile-infested Mara River. The tension at the riverbanks, sudden stampedes, and survival instincts create one of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles in the world. Even when crossings are not happening, the area remains extremely active with constant movement of herds and predators.
Apart from the migration herds, the Northern Serengeti offers excellent resident wildlife sightings. Expect encounters with lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, and numerous bird species. The open landscapes and river valleys provide excellent visibility for photography and game viewing.
Lunch will be enjoyed as a bush picnic inside the park, allowing you to stay close to wildlife action throughout the day. Your guide will continue tracking key hotspots for migration activity to maximize your safari experience.
In the evening, return to your tented camp in Northern Serengeti for dinner and overnight stay. Relax in the peaceful wilderness, enjoy the sounds of nature, and reflect on the unforgettable safari moments from the day.
